getting married in vegas

Las Vegas is the party capital of the world. From the incredible casinos to the world-class music entertainment and nightlife, going to Vegas and not having fun is nigh on impossible. With so much to see and do and fun at every turn, it’s no surprise that may people choose to spend the happiest day of their lives in Las Vegas.

Getting married in Vegas is now a common way of tying the knot, with hundreds of thousands of happy couples saying their vows each year. Vegas has become world-famous as a place to get hitched, with hundreds of ‘chapels’ spread across the city offering wedding ceremonies for all tastes and budgets.

Getting Married in Vegas

Although there are plenty of places of worship in and around Las Vegas that will provide a ‘traditional’ ceremony, the vast majority of weddings take place in registered chapels and even casinos. Thanks to Clark Country being the easiest place in the United States to get a wedding licence, hundreds of independent wedding venues now operate on and near the Las Vegas strip. Getting married is extremely easy too, with the couple requiring a marriage licence (that costs a lucky $ 77 to obtain from the marriage licence office in the city centre) before they can get hitched at the venue of their choice. A copy of the certificate costs an additional $ 15, keeping costs low and allowing couples to spend more on their venue or at the tables.

Fun themes and unique experiences

Las Vegas wedding chapels are pretty unique, in that they are often themed to provide a different experience to their competitors. One of the most popular chapels in the city that offers guests the opportunity to see Mr Las Vegas himself is the Elvis Wedding Chapel on Las Vegas Boulevard. Your special ceremony is topped off with a performance by a professional Elvis impersonator, before an optional photo with the King to remember your special day.

How to Get Married in Vegas

If you’re feel a bit more adventurous, then a wedding ceremony at the Grand Canyon may be the answer for thrill seekers. Sundance Helicopters offer a package starting at £2,200 which whisks the happy couple out into the desert before hovering above an incredible viewpoint several thousand feet above the canyon floor. The wedding is especially intimate, with enough space for the minister, the couple, a maximum of two guests and of course the pilot, allowing newly weds to avoid inviting those unwanted family members along to their ceremony.

A ‘traditional’ Vegas wedding

For the gamblers out there, many casinos will naturally provide a wedding ceremony, with casinos like the Bellagio having several chapels and events rooms dedicated to weddings. In fact, the Bellagio offers numerous specialised ceremonies, with Champagne, buffet, a stay in a suite and even credit to be used in the casino afterwards. If you fancy tying the knot in a casino, it may make sense to get some practice in before you hit the tables after the main event. If poker is your game, then there is a full range of online poker games to help you get in the mood and help you to pay off your wedding with a big win!

Choosing the best option

Getting married Vegas is incredibly easy, but there are so many options it can be difficult to pick where to get hitched and there are a few ‘cheap and cheerful’ establishments where quality is substituted for cost. This is where couples need to rely on previous couples’ experiences, and luckily there are some brilliant sites like Vegas Weddings that are dedicated to helping couples choose the right location for their big day, so take plenty of time to decide on which venue, package and even theme.
