No matter how many houses we see at Carondelet House, it never loses its appeal. It was a perfect fit for Rachel and David’s wedding captured by Valorie Darling Photography, which was a day full of some of the most striking hot pink flowers arranged by The Little Branch. Orange Blossom Special Events truly outdid themselves with the coordination on this one!

From the bride, Rachel: We got engaged 6/21/14. David planned an amazing surprise proposal at the Abbey (because it was where we had our first kiss). He tried to convince me we have to go for a friend’s birthday. When we got there he told me to keep walking toward the back and I finally came to a stand still when I got to an empty room with two huge cameras, roses and champagne. After, he surprised me with an engagement party (80 of our family/friends) at a friend’s store. We had the BEST night and left a few days later for Italy and Israel for two weeks to celebrate.

For our wedding, I tried to mix old Hollywood with a boho fairy tale, I wanted it to feel glamorous but a bit rustic.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Plan quickly so you can relax and enjoy the process! Also remember that things really will go wrong (like a lot of things) so make sure you just go with the flow and enjoy your day.

Wedding Music:
Bride’s Processional: “At Last,” Etta James
First Dance: “Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me,” Mel Carter
Our cocktail hour was all Gipsy Kings! And the dancing was a fun mix of 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s and current music (think Madonna, Prince mixed with Don Omar and Haim)
