Kendall Jenner move over, there’s a new girl on the block! Gigi Hadid seems to be everywhere nowadays and I’m not complaining – although, her golden locks are desperately making me want to dye my hair!! Black to blonde… Uh oh!
Anyway, I got my stalker on and have been looking for at what seems to be her go-to look. Fortunately for me, she had stated that her favourite kind of makeup is “Natural, golden, glowy, and contoured.” She always seems to have glowy skin, golden bronze eyes, softly contoured cheekbones and nude lips. Perfect for a blue eyed, blonde haired beauty – this will look good on anyone though! As you can see below, I’;m (Dani) clearly not in the pictures… I persuaded my gorgeous friend Mim to be my model for this tutorial because she has much more similar features to Gigi than I do.
What you will need:
A moisturiser – no matter your skin type, use a gel moisturiser for this look.
A light coverage foundation – I’m using Georgio Armani Luminious Silk.
A heavy duty concealer – MAC Studio Finish is a personal fave!
A highlighting concealer – Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer
Eyeshadow primer – Urban Decay Primer Potion
Bronze/taupe brown eyeshadows – I’m using all Urban Decay Naked 2 colours.
Big Wispy Lashes – Demi Wispies by Ardell would be purrrrr-fect for this look!
A good ol’ black mascara – Lancome Grandiôse Mascara
Bronzer – I’m using a mixture of the bronzer from Urban Decay’s Naked Flushed Palette in Streak and Betty-Lou Manizer by the Balm.
Highlighter – Mary-Lou Manizer by the Balm, it’s just gaaaaw-jus!
Brow pomade – Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Blonde.
Brow gel – clear gel to volumize the hairs and make brows appear fuller.
Coral-Nude Lipstick – A mixture of L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Collection Privée Lipstick in Eva’s Nude and Ck One Cosmetics Pure Colour Lipstick in 710 Sin City.
SKIN PREP
Since this is going to be a rather heavy duty eye look, I want to do the eyes before the face. However, before that, we will moisturise so that we’re giving the moisturiser time to absorb before we start on the base. As I said above, use a gel moisturiser for this look. WARNING: I’m about to get technical! Gel moisturisers are amazing for all skin types because they have a higher water content than other formulas. Cream formulas are usually oil based, which makes the skin slick, rather than hydrated – and for our acne-prone/problematic skin gals out there, cream formula moisturisers will tend to clog your pores and make your makeup start sliding and who wants that? So, go ahead and apply a generous amount of a gel moisturizer to leave your skin looking radiant and healthy.
EYES
Now, let’s move onto the eyes, shall we? You know how it goes: apply an eyeshadow primer first!! Set it with a flesh coloured eyeshadow and then we’re ready to crack on.
Let’s do brows first, so we’ve got something to work with. Gigi has phenomenal brows and I’m pretty sure she only uses a transparent brow gel, but don’t hesitate to do your normal brows.
Where were we? Oh, eyes! Apply a taupe coloured eyeshadow (I’m using ‘Tease’ – all eyeshadows used are from the Naked 2 palette) into your crease and using a blending brush, move the brush in windscreen wiper motions, back and forth through the crease. Then move onto applying a rose gold shade (I’m using ‘Chopper’) all over your lid – make sure you keep this just on your lid though.
Now, to deepen up this look layer ‘Snakebite’ into the crease and in the inner and outer corners. I’m going to be keeping this look quite rounded, rather than angular and cat-like. Now run ‘Snakebite’ along your top and bottom lash line, apply mascara (and falsies if you want) and you’re ready to move onto the face!
FACE
Gigi is known for having phenomenal skin, but since we aren’t all as lucky, we can thank the lord for the power of makeup! Something which girls tend to do with problematic skin is cake on foundation until there’s no proof that there’s skin underneath. Girlies, I want you to scrap this technique right now! Foundation is a base not a concealer. Apply a thin layer on foundation just to give a gorgeous luminous finish to the skin.
We’re now going to move onto what is known as ‘spot treating’. Take a very small brush (I’m using a Real Techniques Detailer Brush) and a heaving duty concealer (MAC’s Studio Finish Concealer) and apply to any troublesome areas and blend out with your finger – the warmth of the skin to skin contact will help to blend the product out properly and make your spots varnish! Then, apply a brightening liquid concealer under your eyes, for a more awake look and set in place with a powder.
Gigi seems to love to work a verrrrry natural contour – more of a sunkissed bronzey look more than contoured, if you ask me. So, use a bronzer which has more of a brown-red undertone rather than an orange and lightly dust over the hollows of your cheeks, take onto the apples of your cheeks, forehead, chin and down your nose. This will give your definition, without needing to contour. Use some highlighter on all the high points of your face, apply a natural nude-pink gloss or lipstick for a wash of colour and you’re done!
Since Gigi is a Malibu gal, she always seems to have the really effortless yet sexy “I’ve spent all day at the beach” hair.
