Sandal Ready Feet For Spring With Amopé!

Sponsored postAh, spring! The birds are chirping, the sun is (mostly) shining! We’ve had sunny weather throughout last week (and it’s been surprisingly pretty hot for spring in Oregon) and I can’t get enough of it! With the balmy weather finally making a comeback, I am so looking forward to spending more time outside, breathing in the fresh air, enjoying the abundance of spring blooms, and basking in the sunshine!

It’s time to kick off your winter boots and lace your spring sandals! Get your feet in shape for strappy shoes and cute wedges with these tips — then treat yourself to a fabulous pedicure to go with those new sandals!

Even though I am not headed anywhere tropical, these warm, sunny days have definitely got me dreaming of being barefoot on the beach. However, my bare feet — and I am sure I am not alone here — are not yet looking their best (after being shoved into thick socks and boots all winter long!) But now that sunny days are here to stay, it’s prime time to get those bad boys in shape for strappy sandals and cute wedges…so let’s get going!

Exfoliation – My favorite way to scrub away rough patches and remove the dry, calloused skin is by using Amopé™ Pedi Perfect Wet & Dry Rechargeable Foot File. With its specially designed two-speed abrasive roller head for use on wet or dry skin, Amopé™ doesn’t require any effort and it’s thorough. Calluses aren’t the only rough spots that show up—the areas around my ankles and heels tend to get very dry and scaly but Amopé™ takes care of any hardened or rough spots quickly and easily. It’s way more convenient than a pumice stone or foot file and since it’s cordless and completely waterproof, I can easily use it even in the shower…score!

Soaking with Tea Tree Oil – As if I need an excuse for a long soak in the bath! Tea Tree oil is one amazing essential oil. Once a week, I like to soak my feet in warm water, with Epsom salts and a few drops of tea tree oil (that also works as an antiseptic) plus lavender oil for a relaxing & soothing at-home mini spa treatment. Little pick-me-ups go a long way ladies! It also works wonders for soothing my sore tight muscles.

Cleaning and Clipping Toenails – It’s always easier to trim nails when they are a little soft, so I usually try to get this step done after I’ve soaked my feet. I start by removing the remains of any nail polish, getting every last bit off — a Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover really helps to get into the corners. After giving my nails a good trim and filing the corners to get rid of the sharp edges, it’s time to push the cuticles back. Adding a little cuticle oil makes things much easier!

Loading up on Moisture – For truly deep moisturizing, I believe in the old-fashioned method that works best! Exfoliate, apply thick cream, and wear cotton socks overnight. I have a pair of moisturizing gel heel socks that I find very comfy and like to use while sleeping. For daily maintenance, I make sure to focus on the rougher areas (generally heels and soles) after my morning shower when I routinely use a hydrating body lotion to moisturize all over. It doesn’t always have to be a fancy foot cream…I just like something light and non-greasy for daytime!

Finishing Touch – The last step to sandal ready feet is a great pedicure! While I have been known to go to the salon for a pedicure visit (maybe twice or thrice in a year?), I prefer to get the job done at home at my own convenience. For spring, I love brights…bring on the corals, greens and pinks!

How do you care for your feet? Are you as excited for sandal season as I am?
