New from Rimmel London, The Only 1 Lipstick is the latest addition to the brand’s lip color range. Available in 12 shades, this new formulation promises to be a no-compromise all-in-one lipstick with the perfect balance of high impact color, moisture, all day comfort and staying power. That’s a tall claim indeed! But I am happy to report that this is a drugstore lipstick well done!

The Only 1 Lipstick comes in a sleek black tube with a swiveled bullet design for easy application. The packaging is nice, nothing too fancy but when it comes to the formula, it really delivers! I tried 5 shades – You’re All Mine, Call Me Crazy, Naughty Nude, Pink A Punch and Listen Up.
The texture is lightweight, smooth & creamy and glides across lips easily. All the 5 shades I tried provide opaque, vibrant color in just one or two swipes and the pigmentation is easy to build up if you are in the mood for a bolder, more intense look. As for the finish, these lipsticks start off with a hint of shine but after about 5-10 minutes, you get a beautiful satin matte finish that doesn’t look or feel dry/dull… just the kind of matte I love! Although the formula doesn’t seem to add any extra moisture or hydration but it’s really comfortable yet long-lasting…talk about a product that does what it says!

Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick Listen Up
I usually get about 5-6 hours of wear time from these lippies, without too much eating and drinking. The formula actually holds up really well to my tea/coffee plus snack breaks but not so much to a proper lunch. Still, I love how this lipstick wears so comfortably for a decently long time without ever leaving my (already dry) lips feeling dried out! It’s easy to forget you’re wearing it on your lips. And that’s always a big plus in my books!

Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick Pink A Punch
It’s worth mentioning that this lipstick does have a noticeably strong fruity scent and I am not a fan of that but thankfully it fades away in just a few minutes after applying. So, it’s a minor quibble considering the formula is excellent overall! Here are the swatches:

Bottom Line
Rimmel’s The Only 1 Lipstick is a fabulously budget friendly lipstick ($ 5.99) that not only offers great color payoff but is also a pure pleasure to wear! Where this product truly shines is in its ability to live up to its claims of being long-lasting, all the while still keeping a soft, velvety feeling that doesn’t dry out your lips. This makes it a real find because dryness is often the biggest strike against matte lipsticks! I would highly recommend checking these out. Available at Target, Ulta and drugstores nationwide.
