Just a 50-minute flight from Florida, Abaco Beach Resort lies in the Out Islands of the Bahamas. What that means is that while it’s super close to the US and really easy and convenient to get to, it’s more exclusive than the huge hotels over in the Bahamas’ capital, Nassau. With the only swim-up bar on the whole island, you can sip drinks and sample local Bahamian treats while staying cool and then wander down to the white sand beach, try out the kayaks, paddle boards, trampoline, and then go for a snorkel before taking some R&R under a thatched cabana.
For a more active experience Abaco Beach Resort’s concierge service can set you up with a boat charter or diving excursion (there’s a dive center right on the property) so you can island-hop to some of the surrounding bars, see the best reefs and private island beaches in the area, and even throw a line in the crystal clear, warm turquoise waters. Whatever you catch, chef can fix it up for you for dinner!
And I shouldn’t forget to mention, you may be familiar with the famous swimming pigs of the Bahamas and YES – we have them right here in the Out Islands! When 4 wedding bloggers (and dear friends of mine) from Aisle Society came to visit Abaco Beach Resort, this was by far their favorite experience.
As far as sightseeing goes – Abaco Beach Resort is perfectly centrally located to have day trips to and from the surrounding cays. Bike the streets of historic Hope Town after a brief ferry ride and then hop on over to Man-O-War where quaint wood homes and sandy bottomed bars await.
Rooms come in all shapes and sizes here at Abaco. If you’re coming with your bachelorette party you can stay in one of the luxury condos or an ocean-front cottage with full kitchen and living room. If you’re visiting with your beau for your honeymoon there are corner suites with big, comfy king sizes beds.
