From Amilia Photography and A Beyoutiful Fête Events & Design “Al Fresco. Organic. Understated. These are the 3 words used to guide the design process for our Tuscan inspired wedding shoot at the beautiful Goodstone Inn. Our vision was to bring old world Italian charm to Virginia’s wine country, and what better setting than the ruins at the historic Goodstone Mansion, with its ivory-covered façade and gorgeous creeping vines.

The estate’s rolling pastures, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and a farmstead in the distance created a picturesque backdrop for a romantic al fresco experience. The goal for the design was to compliment as well as accentuate the natural beauty of the ruins!”

“Blue hues, velvet linen, lush florals and greenery, delicate hand-lettered stationery, as well as touches of gold details came together to give the design a luxe yet understated feel. Olive branches were a motif that was present in most elements of the design, from the stationery and wedding cake to the florals and place settings.

We also incorporated green olives (also known as green fruit or immature olives) and olive oil into the design to further translate and encapsulate the feel of Tuscany. Each place setting was thoughtfully designed and accented with menus and place cards hand-lettered on fine Italian paper. The cake, oh so simple and yet gorgeous, was adorned with gold sugar olives and sugar olive branches. All these elements came together to create the perfect example of how one can work with their surroundings to evoke an experience!”

“We utilized a number of different textures and purposely styled details on a velvet linen and in the ruins to create juxtaposition and give the design an organic and authentic feel. From the asymmetrical ceremony design to the intimate reception design, our vision played off the surroundings, creating depth in the organic setting.

No detail was overlooked, down to the time of day the shoot took place. We truly wanted to exude the feeling being in Tuscany by evoking an organic sense of intimacy and understated luxury by capturing the couple and details under the evening sun surrounded by natural beauty. We believe in the power of perception and appreciate how the details and setting allowed for the seamless translation of the concept and brought the illusion of being in Tuscany!”
