At a recent workshop on Cannon Beach, Oregon, attendees took on the task of creating a styled shoot around the theme “Tangled in You.” The idea spawned the story of a youthful couple enraptured with love, told by fabrics, movement, and positions.
Using inspiration from the beach, natural tones filled the shoot. The invitation suite featured shades of taupe to express the details of the day.
Like the ripples in the quiet waves, the hem of the bride’s skirt pooled at her feet. She wore a modern beaded gown with fluttery straps and cutouts. Her hair was down, softly curled, to catch the ocean breeze.
The groom’s look was simple but classic with a gray suit and a white button down shirt. There was no need for shoes since these two soaked up the sand with bare feet.
The ribbons of the bride’s bouquet are tangled on the surf like a somber, beautiful message.
Then the straps of the bride’s gown are tangled around the groom, pulling him in close to her as they embrace.
The bouquet is a wild collection of roses, willow, and greenery, all wrapped up with the help of yellow ribbons.
In sweeping romantic fashion, the groom picks up the bride and carries her across the beach before she dances in the shallow waves, letting the hem of her gown brush against the sand.
As she wraps her head in the sand-soaked material of her dress, she pulls her groom in close, getting tangle up once again.
The carefree silhouette of her gown, the wind in the air, and the raw and natural landscape provided an idyllic ambiance for a beachside shoot. This workshop was a lovely way of proving that tangles aren’t always messy – sometimes they’re simply beautiful.
