From the florist, Flower Afternoon: Utah’s landscapes are so diverse! We decided to venture out into the Little Sahara sand dunes for some desert tropic inspiration. The lines of all of the dunes are my favorite part; they give a feeling of movement. The wind was really blowing that day, which made for some really stunning shots. Many people think, “Oh no! Not wind!,” but it really added to the overall mood and made that veil and dress blow so beautifully.
The ceremony set-up is a modern, low to the ground design involving different varieties of tropical leafs that fan out in a half circle to surround the bride and groom. I love this approach to modern day ceremonies rather than a traditional arch. Elizabeth Dye sent us an elegant gown with a bohemian/hippie flare. We paired this dress with a natural cut Herkimer diamond ring, necklace and cuff designed specially for the shoot by The Land Of Salt. The tabletop is designed with different natural elements and neutral tones. The wooden bud vases were made by Missouri-based artist Collin Garrity, who makes all of his pieces one at a time and no two are alike. These vases add an artisan-like quality to the space. The flowers give a gentle contrast in different shades of yellow and green against the rest of the table while keeping the entire look cohesive. Pippa Cakery designed a creamy, textured cake with a slate-colored icing. I chose to continue the desert tropic theme with succulents and monstera leaves.

From blue lakes, green parks, red rocks, salt flats, and these amazing sand dunes–it’s no wonder that Utah is one of the most highly rated Wedding and Destination Wedding locations. The soft sun on a summer day makes it perfect for capturing film photography. I loved the vastness of this shoot, with a concentration on a neutral and elegant theme, I can see brides with a taste for flair and passion going after a vast landscape to make their nuptials memorable and different.
