From photographer Mariëlle Kokke – “Venice is the city of love and romance with its narrow alleys, beautiful old buildings, and characteristic bridges spanning the canals navigated by gondolas. It is the ideal destination wedding location for couples to join in matrimony!
I came up with the idea of a romantically styled wedding inspiration shoot in Venice and assembled an experienced team with stylist Bianca Thomas of Perplexz, Marjolein Kleijwegt of Leintjes Exclusief who specializes in stationery, Djamila Smit of Bruid en Beauty Almere responsible for hair styling and airbrush make-up, and Nadya of White and Ivory Bridal who provided the gorgeous dresses for this wedding shoot!”
“In preparation of the trip, the team decided on the theme and the corresponding styling plan. With the emerging trends in marriage styling in mind ‘slate blue’ was chosen as the main colour for this styled shoot.
It is a beautiful and romantic hue which matches perfectly with the romantic ambiance of this wonderful city. Delicate elements combined with iconic Venetian landscape and a touch of romance were used throughout this Italian destination wedding editorial.”
“The team set off to Venice to put their plan into action. A major challenge was to avoid the crowds of tourists, especially during the carnival celebration. We started at sunrise to capture the morning light across the Venice Lagoon and then positioned the styled table in the middle of an empty San Marco Square.
After models Danique and Jerry were dressed and fully styled as bride and groom the shoot continued in the artistic alleys with authentic facades, small squares and bridges lending the characteristic Venetian appearance!”
