From Zosia Zacharia Photography – “Inspiration event stylist and wedding planner Nyachia Knight of NKT Events and I found it hard not to be inspired by the 400-year-old Chateau de Varennes, Burgundy, France.
The Chateau is steeped in history, with old world French charm and holds many of its original features and furniture such as its 18th century marbled staircase, turn of the century velvet chairs & chaise lounge while the walls are lined with family portraits. The same family own and run this beautiful home and wedding venue today.”
“Nyachia felt our bride embodies traditional refinement with a nod to modernity and opted for a boudoir shoot prior to the ceremony with pieces from The Lace Atelier. I captured her in both modern colour film and moody grainy black and white film to evoke images which look like scenes from one’s dreams.
For wedding gowns she naturally thought of modern bridal designer Jenny Packham because Jenny Packham’s beaded gown is all about refined glamour. Our groom wore a modern bright navy 3-piece wool suit with a very fine pin stripe by the British bespoke tailored Marc Wallace for a more polished look.”
“The colour palette was inspired by both the antiques of the Chateau as well as the Burgundy region with its lush vineyards, dry summers, and pink and pale violet sunsets translating as antique gold, soft pale pinks, deep violets and toned down greens.
Make up artist Virgine Debourg chose to reflect the floral colour palette by making up our bride to begin with soft pinks and violets for our bride’s eyes paired with a pale lip for her boudoir session and then built on that reflecting the deeper antique look blending by antique gold eyes with smoky eye liner.”
“Florist Antoinette from Fleurs de Fee beautifully combined soft tones of pink David Austin roses and dahlias into a delicate yet modern trailing bouquet and reflected those flowers in our tablescape but adding more depth with tones of burgundy to highlight the region of the château.
Bespoke cake designer Krishanthi Armitt of Cakes By Krishanthi wanted to reflect the floral designs by creating a stellar 3-tier wedding cake with handmade sugar Dalhias and delicate antique gold and white icing.”
“For the table top Nyachia paired natural linens from Mademoiselle Coton with vintage gold-rimmed glass and tablewear from the Chateau’s collection with their original antique leather dining room chairs.
Calligraphy designer Judy Broad chose to write in a bold font and antique gold ink to reflect the age and history of the Chateau on a textured fine art paper and with modern strokes. Judy added an illustration of the Chateau to the invitation suite so the guests could have a sneak peek of where they were being invited to.
The whole story is tied together with the beautiful family heirloom antique diamond and sapphire engagement ring and pendant by vintage jewellers Webbs of Holt!”
