From Creative Collaborations – “The islands of the country of Cape Verde (off the west coast of Africa) are a melting pot of cultures. The Portuguese originally discovered Cape Verde, so there’s a mixture of African, Brazilian and Portuguese influences. You’ll see it in the island’s music, fashion and perhaps most clearly – the food! I wanted to create a wedding that embraced the culture, fashion, and creativity all in one.
The Cape Verde Islands is made up of white-sand beaches and brightly-colored villages. The design inspiration was derived from the Cape Verde flag. The gold stars represent the (10) islands of the country. The Dark Blue represents the Atlantic Ocean and the red stripe represents the road to economic progress!”
“As a native of the Cape Verde Islands, but born in the States; I wanted to inspire brides that want a coastal vibe wedding with colorful and creative concepts that will work for any wedding.
Our venue, Las Palmas, is a private estate that is surrounded by green plush vineyards while overlooking the beach which adds that island vibe. The on-site bridal suite is perfect for any bride and adds to the intimate feel the venue offers.”
“Ten 23 Designs created beautiful gold metallic mirror chargers cut out in the shape of the Cape Verde flag, napkin holders and table number that set the tone for the tablescape. The gold metal chairs with ivory cushions and ivory love seat complemented the vibrant and luscious florals that graced the table.
We decided to layer blues and greens with plates and glassware on the table that gave that ocean color effect we were aiming for. The custom paper products made by Ceci New York were hues of blue, green, and gold which mimicked the islands’ beaches. The 4-tiered cake was phenomenally crafted by Ma Pettie Maison Cake Design to represent the islands and tie into the styled shoot by incorporating the green lace and the flag motif.”
“Our model was clothed in a custom, tailor-made lace teal green dress accompanied with beautiful white floral accessories. The lace was chosen to represent the many cultures that make up the Cape Verde islands. We decided to have two styles of floral accessories to inspire many different brides. We did a traditional bouquet that was bold and beautiful with flowy ribbon and the other was The Valentine Cuff.
The Valentine Cuff is beyond stunning for any bride! The beaded cuff, flowers, and Swarovski crystals add a fantastic look to any wedding gown.”
“We hope to inspire couples and show them that beauty is in the details that represent who you are!”
