Grunge Makeup

Grunge makeupThe whole 90’s grunge trend doesn’t seem to be leaving anytime soon and it’s a personal fave of mine (being a 90’s kid an’ all). So, I thought I’d show you my go-to grunge makeup. This kind of look has both dramatic eyes and lips. But, if you feel like you need some kind of balance, why not switch up the dark lips for a nude and you’ve got a perfect going out look!

Ok, so what am I using?
An eyeshadow primer
A peach colour eye shadow
Burgundy eye shadow
Dark chocolate brown eye shadow
Black gel liner
Black eye shadow
Mascara

  1. Ok, so, as usual we need to prime our lids and set it with bone coloured eye shadow. It will prevent any creasing, help to blend out all of our other eye shadows and will make the colour last sooo much longer!

  2. Now we’re going to apply a peachy eye shadow into our crease to work as our transition colour. An ashy brown colour would also work for this kind of blacked out smokey eye, but it won’t be as striking. Make sure that you’re blending this really well as it is going to be the lightest of all the colours. Then, start building the burgundy straight into your crease, over the top of that peach.

  3. Once those colours are nicely blended together, apply a black gel liner all over your lid. This will act as a base for the black eye shadow. Start by applying it close to your lash line and blend towards the crease. Do NOT take this into your crease though. Only apply this to the lid.

  4. To make sure that none of that creases, apply a black eyeshadow over the top. This will set the gel liner and give the blackest possible eye shadow.

  5. Taking a blending brush (I’m using a Zoeva Defined Crease Brush) take a small amount of a black eye shadow and start applying that into your crease. This will help the black to blend into the transitional colours.

  6. It’s up to you whether you want to apply more liner to create a flick or not… I personally love a winged liner, so I went ahead and apply more. But, if you don’t want to, that doesn’t matter, it looks perfect by itself too 🙂

  7. If you’re going out, you can apply a pair of fake lashes for extra drama or if you’re like me and want something a bit more casual, then just heap on the mascara.

Then, just finish with your usual foundation and brow routine. It’s completely up to you what colour lipstick you want to wear. I used two different ones to give you a few examples.
Make sure you hashtag #DTYLOOKS on Instagram so that I can see your transformations. The anticipation is killing me!
