Best Tinted Dry Shampoos For Dark Hair

Affiliate linksDry shampoo is every busy girl’s hairstyling BFF — it zaps greasy roots, adds volume & texture and eliminates the need to wash and style hair every single day (seriously, who has time for that?). It can make 3-day-old greasy, limp locks look clean and refreshed but as a brunette, I find that many dry shampoos leave behind a powdery white, chalky cast on my darker strands. And that’s why I am so excited about this new crop of tinted dry shampoos that aren’t one-size-fits-all formulations and are specifically designed for dark hair!

Not only do these tinted formulas eliminate the whole white-residue issue, but some of them can even camouflage roots between color appointments (a huge plus for those of us with way-too-many greys!) It’s like a brunette’s dry shampoo dream come true!

Best tinted dry shampoos for dark hair

Here are some of the best tinted dry shampoos for dark hair…no more telltale signs of a bad dry shampoo application!

Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo for Dark Hair Tones ($ 26) – Specifically designed for dark hair, the argan oil infused formula with ultra-fine rice starch is not only good at mopping up excess oil and addig volume but also contains UV filters to shield our strands from damaging sun rays. Bonus: it has a really nice, fresh scent that really helps to mask the sweaty hair smell. It’s also available in a Light Hair Tones formula that contains subtle violet undertones to mute out any brassiness around the root area.

Palmer’s Olive Oil Formula Clean Scent Dry Shampoo ($ 6.99) – This is another game-changing dry shampoo that’s my new drugstore staple! Formulated with a combination of soothing botanicals like nettle, sage and vitamin E, it does a great job of absorbing oil to refresh and volumize hair between washes without drying out your scalp. And I love its fresh, clean scent that quickly neutralizes the telltale odor of unwashed hair! The soft brown tinted matte formula leaves no white residue and works perfectly for brown to black hair colors.

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk in Natural Tint ($ 20) – This new formula with mineral pigments combines all of the oil-absorbing goodness of the original version with the added benefit of a natural light brown tint that blends easily into light to medium brown shades so you won’t be left with a messy residue or unsightly white color on your roots. Plus, it smells nice n’ fresh and is free of parabens, silicones, and sodium chloride.

Batiste Hint of Color Dry Shampoo in Dark & Deep Brown ($ 8.99) – The original Batiste dry shampoo is probably the most popular drugstore choice and this new tinted version is a winner too! It comes in 3 different tints – light hair, medium-brown hair, and for very dark hair. The mess-free mist soaks up excess oil and adds the necessary volume to revive dirty, stringy strands while the hint of color helps blend in root regrowth without the worries of white marks. The smell is a little too strong and perfume-y for me, but thankfully it subsides after just a few minutes. For just $ 9, this budget-friendly beauty buy needs to be on your must-try list!

Sachajuan Dark Volume Powder ($ 32) – Made especially for brunette and raven tresses, this volumizing powder revives limp locks in between shampoos. The dry, matte-finish formula soaks up oiliness on the roots for instant lift and bounce. Its subtle, non-messy tint doesn’t leave hair looking dull or stain fingers/clothes. Another perk: it smells really good and is free from parabens, sulfates, phthalates, petrochemicals, GMO and triclosan.

Eufora Touch Up Texturizing Dry Spray Shampoo in Dark ($ 27) – In addition to sopping up oil and adding that extra oomph to flat hair, this dry shampoo provides temporary grey root coverage and color enhancement in between color appointments. The temporary tint lasts all day and washes out easily. Packed with antioxidant-rich botanicals such as rosemary, green tea and witch hazel, the tinted formula works well for medium to dark brown, black and red hair.

Vidal Sassoon ColorFinity Rich Darks Dry Shampoo ($ 3.99) – Designed for red, brown and black hair, this dry shampoo with lightweight refreshers helps eliminate unwanted oils without washing out your hair color pigments. It doesn’t add a lot of volume but makes hair look clean and leaves no sticky or chalky residue. Not only is it user-friendly (goes on super light and blends easily) but is also easily affordable with a mere $ 4 price tag!
