First off, let’s talk about the good stuff. I love that how small and portable this device is (no bulky hose and compressor, which aren’t exactly travel-friendly). To use it, hold the can 5-6 inches away from your skin, press down softly on the nozzle and spray the foundation in a circular motion all over the face until desired coverage is reached. For increased or targeted coverage, I just spray more foundation directly on to the particular problem areas but for those spots, I do need to use my makeup sponge to blend any over-spray or blotchiness. Although Mineral Air Airbrush is pretty easy to use, I found that it did take me a few times to get the hang of it and master the spray on application for an evenly perfect coverage….just sayin’ so you know what to expect!

One of the best things about this product is how much control it gives you and the coverage is very natural with a weighless feel on my skin and never looks cake-y, thick or overdone. And because it’s cordless, I can use it anywhere. Mineral Air is small enough to fit in a purse or makeup bag, making it a great option for travel.

To help you select your foundation shade, Mineral Air has an easy guide here where you can choose the color you think best matches your skin tone from the 6 available shades. I got the shade Medium Tan and my kit also came with the next two closest shades (Medium and Tan). I found that Medium Tan and Tan both work well for me individually but I like to use a mix of the two for the perfect match.

The foundation offers a really nice medium coverage with a smooth, soft-focus finish, covering most of my imperfections including blemishes, redness, light scars etc. I would say the finish is more of a satin matte that works very well for my normal to dry skin. The 4-in-1 Foundation is supposed to replace the need for a primer, concealer and hydrating serum but I always make sure to use a light moisturizer/hydrating primer before, as I do with my regular foundation. I found the finish to last as long as if not longer than my standard foundation, about 7-9 hours.

While the concept is great, there are some potential negatives to Mineral Air airbrush system. First, the device doesn’t come with any pre-filled makeup units that attach directly to the system, so you have to manually put the foundation into the bottle before use (about 20 drops at a time, which is enough for 2 to 5 applications). And when you run out of Mineral Air foundation, there isn’t a way to purchase refills on the product’s website, so you’ll need to contact their customer service. And last but not the least, this system is pricey. You can get the Mineral Air system for just $ 19.95 + free shipping and try it for 30 days. Once you like it and decide to keep it, you will be charged 5 payments of $ 39.95 in 30-day increments.

So, should you splurge on Mineral Air airbrush system? Well, I’d recommend if you have been thinking of dabbling in airbrush makeup, but do not want the hassle of professional corded airbrush gadgets that are usually not very portable and easy to use, this one is worth trying! With their 30-day refund policy, you’ll be able to get your hands on it for only $ 20 so it’s not much of an initial investment! Available at
